COVID-19 has been linked to an increased risk of neurological and psychiatric disorders, a new study shows.

The Lancet study found that 1 in 3 COVID-19 survivors received a neurological or psychiatric diagnosis within six months of infection.

The study, conducted by researchers linked to Oxford University, examined more than 230,000 patient health records.

It found a "robust" association between the virus and diagnoses such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, stroke and anxiety disorder.

Anxiety was the most common diagnosis, followed by mood disorders. The study also found that such diagnoses were more common with COVID-19 versus the flu.
