Students in Suffern are jumping around in the hallways to achieve success in the classroom.

It only takes a few minutes along the Sensory Hallway in Viola Elementary School for the kids to exercise their bodies and minds, benefiting them beyond the area.

Viola Elementary School’s occupational therapist Ellen Stone says the sensory path was installed over the winter holidays.

Teachers encourage the children to go there if they need more energy, or if they have too much built up to concentrate.

“We have some children that have difficulty paying attention for extended periods of time, so they might come here to get movement but certain types of movement that are calming and organizing,” says Stone.
