Some middle school students in Westchester learned life-saving methods Friday to prepare in case of an emergency.
Sixth-graders at the Eastview Middle School in White Plains received CPR training and learned how to spot the signs of a stroke.
"Step one is to make sure the air is clear, step two is to make sure they are OK," says Shane Washington, who was among the students practicing on special dummies.
"This course is excellent because of its simplicity and we can get the information across in a great way," says gym teacher Dave Bergen.
This is the third year Bergen says the school has done this training.
The students say the training taught them how to help, rather than just panic. But instructors also told the kids that the first step in an emergency is to call 911.
