Students in 10 lower Hudson Valley schools are competing to qualify for a spot at the FIRST International Robotics Championship.
Over 1,000 students who make up 48 teams will showcase their STEM skills after an intense six weeks of designing and building original robots. They'll be joined by their engineering and technical mentors.
The competition starts Thursday at Rockland Community College.
The students will compete through Saturday for recognition that rewards design excellence, competitive play, sportsmanship and high-impact partnerships between schools, businesses and communities.
The teams recognized will earn a spot at the international championship taking place April 17-20 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
