A Hudson Valley teenager is on a mission to provide all kids with a spooktacular holiday, free of cost.
Lauren Dempsey, a 17-year-old a senior from Rye High School, has been organizing a costume drive since the fourth grade.
Dempsey and a team of volunteers from The Carver Center, a Port Chester nonprofit, began sorting through hundreds of donated costumes Saturday.
Volunteers say many of the families they serve don't have the resources to meet basic needs, so Halloween costumes fall very low on the totem pole.
Organizers say Dempsey and her team created a virtual Halloween store, with a wide-ranging variety of costumes.
The costumes will be heading to area schools like Thomas Edison Elementary in Port Chester.
