? Mount Vernon police are investigating a string of stabbings and the discovery of a body in an abandoned building Thursday night.
Police say they received a call before 6 p.m. about two men being stabbed near a gas station on the corner of South Sixth Avenue and Second Street. About 20 minutes later, cops say a third stabbing victim walked into Mount Vernon Hospital. Another man who was stabbed in the back later called police; he was taken to Jacobi Medical Center. Police believe the stabbings are related and occurred when the stabbing victims first attacked a man whose friend came to the rescue with a knife.
Authorities later responded to a building on South 10th Avenue where children found a body hanging from the ceiling of an abandoned factory. Police believe the man committed suicide.
