Cleanup got underway throughout Rockland County Saturday night after storms scattered debris and toppled trees over, blocking some roadways.

Cleeful Lane in Valley College, in Clarkstown, had a fallen tree which crews were preparing for removal. Heavy rains and wind ripped it out of the ground, uprooting it in a scene that played out in a number of Rockland County neighborhoods.

Superintendent of Highways for the Town of Clarkstown Bob Milone said they received the reports of uprooted trees and blocked roads around 5 p.m.

Although some of the fallen trees fell against power lines, Milone said electrical power was not impacted. He added that his home only experienced an outage for about 15 minutes.

Nearby on Elliots Alley and Lake Road in Valley College, a portion of the road was impassable due to a downed tree which crews were also preparing to remove.

Officials told News 12 that crews will be out and about all weekend throughout the county to remove downed trees and branches and other debris from the roads.
