Alerts: Heat advisory for the region until 9 p.m. tonight.

Air quality alert for the region until midnight tonight.
Canadian wildfire smoke will impact the region through the night, negatively impacting our air quality. If you suffer from respiratory illnesses or are sensitive to poor air quality, refrain from being outdoors or at least limit your time and stay away from strenuous activities.

Forecast:
It was a hot and hazy one today, with feel-like temperatures topping out near 100 degrees, as wildfire smoke drifted in from Minnesota and Ontario. Looking ahead to this evening and tonight, we are watching the potential for an isolated strong to severe storm. Westchester and Rockland counties are currently under a marginal risk (Level 1 of 5) from the Storm Prediction Center, with damaging wind gusts and hail being our primary concerns with any storms that develop.
Thursday brings some minor improvements. While it won’t be quite as hot or humid, high temperatures are still expected to hover around 90 degrees, officially securing another heat wave for the Hudson Valley this summer. Expect a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, dry conditions, and lighter winds compared to Wednesday.
Heading into the weekend, temperatures will gradually cool back down toward seasonal averages. However, thunderstorm chances return by Saturday afternoon and persist into the night, which will likely impact any outdoor plans. That rain is expected to linger into Sunday morning before clearing out by midday, leaving us with partly sunny skies and a dry Sunday afternoon and evening.
