OVERNIGHT WEATHER

Keep an umbrella and rain jacket with you if you will be doing any overnight traveling. Most of this evening is dry with varying amounts of clouds and comfortable temperatures, but a stray rain shower is possible. The better chance for a few rain showers will be after midnight. It will be breezy and mild with most overnight temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s.

WEDNESDAY WEATHER

Expect a back-and-forth weather day for the start of April with spotty rain showers in the morning, mostly until around 8 a.m. Then, clouds with breaks of sun and another day of warmer-than-average temperatures. South Shore and East End afternoon temperatures will be in the 50s to low 60s. Most of Long Island will be in the 60s to low 70s. There will be several hours of very nice weather before a chance for spotty showers and even a thunderstorm returns. That chance will mostly be after 5 p.m. Any thunderstorm would be brief. A better chance for rain and a rumble of thunder will move in for the overnight hours into early Thursday.

MUCH COOLER THURSDAY

After early morning periods of rain, expect a much cooler day with a mostly cloudy sky. Highs will be in the 40s and a stray rain shower will be possible through the day, but much of the day will be more dry than wet.

MARINE CONDITIONS WEDNESDAY

Use caution - there will still be rough conditions on the ocean, plus the threat of spotty showers and a thunderstorm throughout the day.
