Storm Watch: Heavy rain, strong wind to taper off by late Saturday morning

Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Addison Green says a powerful and dangerous storm will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the area through Saturday morning.
ALERTS:
A flood watch is in effect from Friday night into Saturday morning for Rockland and Westchester counties. 
A wind advisory is in effect from Friday night into Saturday morning for southern Westchester, eastern Dutchess, and western Ulster counties.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect for Saturday morning and afternoon for southern Westchester County.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: 
  • The third storm of the week will arrive Friday after 8 p.m. bringing scattered showers and breezy winds at first.
  • Heavy rain, gusty winds up to 40-50 mph and localized flooding will all be a concern overnight. The storm departs by Saturday in the late morning hours.
  • Temperatures will drop from the 50s to the 30s over the course of the weekend with Sunday feeling in the upper-20s at times.
  • The storm system’s timing has slowed down a little. MLK Jr. Day, on Monday, is not likely to be impacted at all.  That storm would arrive overnight into Tuesday and be an issue through the day, eventually departing Wednesday morning.  Snow is the main precipitation type of concern for the region.

SATURDAY - Storm Watch: Heavy rain and strong wind, from the overnight hours, will taper off by the late morning hours.  Partly cloudy skies and breezy to windy conditions will follow.  High: mid-50s. Lows: upper-20s to low-30s.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny and windy at times. There will be a noticeable drop in temps, compared to Saturday.  High: mid-30s. Lows: upper-10s to low-20s.
 
MONDAY - MLK Jr. Day: Mostly cloudy with a late day snow chance. Highs: low 30s. Lows: mid 20s.
 
TUESDAY - Weather To Watch: Cloudy with snow through much of the day. Highs: upper-20s to low-30s.  Lows: upper-10s to low-20s.
 
WEDNESDAY - Weather To Watch: Snow shower chances in the morning hours then partly sunny and breezy at times. Highs: upper-20s. Lows: mid-10s.
 
THURSDAY:  A mix of sun and clouds. Highs: upper-20s to low-30s. Lows: upper-10s to mid-20s.
FRIDAY:  Mostly sunny to mostly cloudy with a snow shower chance. Highs: upper-20s to low-30s. Lows: mid-10s.
 
SATURDAY:  Mostly sunny.  Highs: mid- to upper-20s. Lows: mid-10s.
 
SUNDAY:  Mainly sunny.  Highs: upper-20s. Lows: upper-10s to low-20s.
