The first weekend of May is just around the corner but sadly we are heading into it with unsettled weather coming along.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Saturday starts off partly cloudy, warm and a little humid. Through the middle of the day, the potential for stormy activity will build as the heat and humidity rise. Between noon and 2 p.m., the threat of storms will pop up, moving from the southwest to the northeast. Some of the storms through the day could turn strong to severe. Any strong storm could bring damaging wind gusts and small hail. Although the primary concern is the winds, the hail is still possible.
  • Along with those two damaging concerns, there will certainly be a possibility of ponding on roadways from quick and heavy downpours. With the increase in humidity coming, the storms will have plenty of moisture to rain out as they pass by. By Saturday evening, the storm potential will still be high but slowly going down into the overnight hours.
  • Sunday starts off mostly cloudy with rain in sight for the midday to afternoon hours. The storm potential will decrease, but that won't stop any downpours from coming through bringing about ponding or standing water in spots.
  • Monday has rain in the forecast to kick off the day and breezy winds will come along as well. A pesky upper area of low pressure will be crawling down to the south and west, helping to bring all of this unsettled weather to our doorstep. Expect to keep that umbrella handy into Wednesday of next week.
  • Good news though, starting Thursday and into next weekend, we have more positive weather coming our way. That is going to be a delight for all the outdoor graduation ceremonies and celebrations of mom.
