A large and complex storm system moving through the middle of the country has its sights set on the Hudson Valley. It will bring batches of rain during the evening rush, along with isolated thunderstorms and gusts over 30 mph.
Here is the timeline for the whole day. From the morning rush to noon, expect spotty to scattered showers along with breezy winds. From noon to 3 p.m., scattered showers are joined by a few small batches of rain as the winds start to pick up. From 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., batches of rain, gusty winds and isolated storms move through.
There will be a chance of reduced visibility with the rain falling quickly. There is also a possibility of ponding on roadways and localized flooding in low-lying areas.
The rainfall rates back down between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. with just scattered showers coming as the winds stay high. From 10 p.m. until midnight, the rain completely wraps up as the winds linger. But those winds will taper off overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
There is a risk of flash flood concerns due to the ground being very dry and only able to absorb so much before water starts to run off into the streets. Low-lying areas, like along the major roadways in South Westchester County, could see standing water during and after the Wednesday evening rush.
