The demolition of storm-damaged homes continued Friday in Washingtonville.
A total of 14 homes damaged during hurricanes Irene and Lee were given FEMA buyouts, and the neighborhood was declared a flood plain.
Mayor David Heintz says the demolition has been an emotional experience for himself and the community.
Demolition and cleanup is expected to be finished by June. Officials say the vacant lots are to be turned into "green space."
