A controversial housing project in Orange County remains shut down by the Department of Environmental Conservation after it received multiple violations and was issued a stop-work order several months ago.

The DEC says the stop-work order is still place at the Clovewood development site in South Blooming Grove.

Officials say the developer, Keen Equities LLC, needs four permits that it doesn't have for various environmental issues.

They say Keen Equities LLC has paid more than half of a $228,000 fine for not having the right permits.

The site was most recently issued a violation in March for allegedly using an unpermitted dye to reduce the appearance of cloudiness in streams on their property that turned nearby waterways blue.

News 12 reached out to the developer but has not heard back.
