A special honor was given to a Stony Point official as he heads into retirement.

Rose Street in Stony Point is now dedicated to Larry Brissing.

Brissing has served as the town's highway superintendent for almost 20 years. Now the street that leads to the department will bear his name.

The lifelong Stony Point resident shared the moment with friends, family and colleagues as it was unveiled.

"I never expected this. I really appreciate all the support of everyone here, and all the people who voted me in over the last 18 years," said Brissing.

Brissing says he plans to spend more time with family during his retirement.
