Stony point referendum too close to call
Unofficial results from the Rockland board of elections show a dozen more voters are in favor of a referendum relating to the Rose Memorial Library than those who voted no. The site shows 50.1% or 3,788 voted yes and 49.9% or 3,773 voted no.

Unofficial results from the Rockland Board of Elections show a dozen more voters are in favor of a referendum relating to the Rose Memorial Library than those who voted no.
The site shows 50.1% or 3,788 voted "yes" and 49.9% or 3,773 voted "no."
The referendum would increase the town of Stony Points contribution to the libraries annual budget by $1.1 million to a total of $1,425,000.
The county Board of Elections say they will need to count absentee and affidavit ballots before the results are certified and the final results may not be known for several weeks.
"Knowing that we are this close to having an opportunity to serve our community in the way they need and deserve is really exciting,” said Alice Meacham, the director of Rose Memorial Library.
In an interview with News 12 on Wednesday, Meacham says the funds would allow them to offer more, including a new building.
Reports say those against this referendum were concerned about tax increases.
