A state trooper out of Somers was hospitalized Saturday after going into frigid waters to rescue a dog.
A dog reportedly fell through the ice at a lake near JFK Catholic High School. The dog's owner called state police after not being able to reach him.
News 12 is told that a trooper fell through the ice while trying to reach the dog and was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco for evaluation.
Everyone involved in the dog's rescue is expected to be OK, including the dog, sources tell News 12.
As News 12 reported, a German Shepherd was rescued by state troopers in Greenville after he ran away from his owner and fell through a frozen-over pond and into frigid waters.
