A 35-year-old woman has been identified by police as the victim in a homicide investigation underway in Dutchess County.
State police say Danielle DiStefano was found Saturday afternoon dead inside her apartment on Mill Road in Rhinebeck. They were responding to an emergency medical call there.
Authorities say their investigation discovered the woman died under suspicious circumstances and arrested William Dickie, 42, for murder – citing depraved indifference.
It's not clear exactly how she died or what the victim's relationship was with the suspect. It does appear that they knew each other. DiStefano tagged Dickie in a Facebook post on Father's Day in 2020.
Neighbors say DiStefano was friendly anytime they saw her and were shocked to hear from police about her death.
William Dickie is being held in Dutchess County Jail without bail.
News 12 reached out to the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office for comment.
