A 69-year-old Highland man died in a house fire on Christmas Day, according to police.

Authorities say Phillip Damberg was discovered dead from smoke inhalation inside his residence on North Riverside Road.

Troopers and three fire departments battled the blaze around 3:15 a.m. Officials say the flames began in a wood burning stove.
