State police are calling the death of an 8-year-old girl at an Orange County school an accident.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at a school in the Kiryas Joel Union Free School District. State police say the girl was in her classroom with two teachers when she climbed onto a chair to get something from a cabinet.

That's when officials say the cabinet fell off the wall, causing severe head trauma. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Further investigation determined it to be an accident.
