New York State Police issued a reminder to drivers to slow down and move over for pulled-over vehicles after a cruiser was hit on the Palisades Parkway.

The incident occurred when a trooper was speaking to a driver they had pulled over, and another car sped by, hitting the trooper’s car.

State police shared images showing damage to both vehicles and urged motorists to remember the New York Move Over Law.

According to the law, if a car is pulled over or has its hazards on, drivers are expected to move one full lane away from the stopped vehicle.

If it's not possible to pull over safely, drivers should reduce speed as they approach the stopped vehicle.
