Residents say the Ardsley Road Bridge is dangerous to drive on because of narrow lanes and construction. The bridge goes over the Sprain Brook Parkway and connects Ardsley to Scarsdale.

"It's really nerve-wracking because there's no space at all," says Elizabeth Bell, an Ardsley resident. "If a large SUV comes by on the other side, you feel like you're going to get sideswiped."

Drivers say the narrow lanes make it hard to get through, especially when bigger vehicles are coming across the bridge.

"It can be dangerous if you're not paying attention," says Sandeep Kataria, an Ardsley resident.

It's been under construction for the last five years. The second half of construction just starting a few weeks ago and is expected to be done over the summer.

"I've seen cars driving on the wrong side of the road. I've seen driving on both sides of the road," says Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.

Feiner he's seen how dangerous things can get firsthand. He says the New York State Transportation Department will make changes to the bridge on Tuesday, including a stop light.

"The temporary light will require cars to stop while some cars will now have the entire lane for themselves but they're going to have to wait," says Feiner.

Residents we talked to think that could be a game-changer.

"It'll make things safer, that's for sure," says Bell.

Feiner says it may take drivers a little longer to pass through the area, so he's suggesting leaving more time to get to your destination.
