New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced the creation of a new program that will provide funding to allow more local law enforcement agencies to get body cameras on Friday.
Law enforcement agencies between 130 and 3,000 sworn officers can apply for the CAMS program to receive up to $150,000 in grant funding to launch a body camera program.
"Body cameras help ensure increased accountability and transparency during law enforcement interactions," Underwood says.
Police say the cameras are an added layer of protection for them and the people they serve
