A Stamford man has pleaded guilty in federal court to a child exploitation offense involving a teenage victim.
Federal prosecutors say 45-year-old Rick Marro admitted to receipt and distribution of child pornography during a court appearance in Bridgeport.
According to court documents, the investigation began in August 2023 after a 16-year-old reported being sexually exploited by Marro.
Authorities say the teen met Marro through a dating application before communicating on Snapchat and meeting in person multiple times.
Investigators say a review of Snapchat messages revealed videos Marro recorded and sent showing sexual activity involving the victim.
A search of Marro's cellphone allegedly uncovered the same videos, along with messages discussing an incident in which the victim lost consciousness after being choked.
Marro was arrested in January 2024 and has remained in custody since then.
He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 6.
