A collegiate softball team from Rockland is looking to keep their historic season rolling.
On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas softball team celebrated its East Coast Conference championship after defeating Molloy 8-3, securing its first-ever NCAA Division II regional bid.
That's not all. The team's 31 wins this year make it the most successful season in the program’s 42-year history.
News 12 spoke to the head coach and the team's star pitcher, who won conference coach and pitcher of year awards. "The hours that the girls put in. The coaches put in. It all comes together. There's lots of ups and downs and learning experiences. But at the end of the day, we sit here, and this is exactly where we want to be," says head coach Kristen Sullivan.
"It was by far my favorite season. I feel like everyone on the field wanted to win. Like we all had the same goal. Like freshmen or like super senior like me. We all wanted to win," says pitcher Carissa Della Vecchia.
