Spring Valley man indicted on attempted murder, multiple charges in attack on ex-girlfriend
The victim told police Emmanuel Michel was wearing a mask when he came up behind her with a knife, slashed her in the face in hands, stole her purse and phone, and went into her home to steal her clothes.

A Spring Valley man accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend as she was walking home from work was indicted by a grand jury on 10 criminal counts.
Emmanuel Michel is charged with attempted murder, assault, robbery, burglary, stalking, grand larceny, possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to a report taken by Ramapo police, Michel confessed to committing the Nov. 17 crimes near the 39-year-old victim's home on East Hickory Street.
The victim told police Michel was wearing a mask when he came up behind her with a knife, slashed her in the face and hands, stole her purse and phone, and went into her home stealing her clothes.
Neighbors told News 12 that the incident and the following police response caught everyone's attention.
"When I opened the door, I saw a whole street full of cops," said a man who lives across the street from the victim's home. "Families will always have a little fight [sic], but not like that."
The victim told police that during the incident she thought she was going to die. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police have since said she is in stable condition.
Michel has a previous misdemeanor weapons possession conviction, which led to his newest weapons charge to be upgraded to a felony.
Michel has not made his bail of $500,000 cash or $1 million bond. He’s being held at the Rockland County Jail.
If convicted on all counts, he could spend the next 40 years in state prison.
