Police sources say officers are investigating a homicide that occurred around 3 p.m. Monday at 2 Sunnyside Drive near Pier Street.
The female victim was allegedly shot and killed by her husband, according to the sources.
Neighbors say multiple police cars, including a K-9 unit, responded to a co-op building and concentrated on a sixth-floor apartment.
Crime scene investigators were seen entering the building with equipment and carrying out bags of evidence.
On a nearby road, other investigators were examining a car, but authorities have not confirmed whether that was part of the same investigation.
Police have not revealed whether any arrests were made.
