A student at a Somers school for troubled youths is accused of trying to rape a counselor Monday.
According to state police, a male student at Lincoln Hall unzipped his pants and demanded sex from the woman when the two were alone in a room. When she refused, police say the student threw the victim to the ground and tried to rip off her clothes. However, a staff member who heard the commotion stopped the attack.Authorities said the counselor was bruised and her face was swollen from the attack.
The school's crisis manager would not comment about what Lincoln Hall plans to do about the situation.
Another female teacher, who did not want to be identified, admitted she is shaken up. But she believes the attempted sexual assault won't stop co-workers from showing up to help the children.
Authorities took the suspect in for questioning.
