The Somers School District was closed Monday after nearly half of the bus fleet was vandalized.
School officials found nearly half of the fleet of 60 buses inoperable from extensive vandalism around 6 a.m.
The damage included flat tires and broken windows. Fire extinguishers were also missing from inside the buses.
The buses are parked at Somers High School, located at 120 Primrose St.
The bus company, Yonkers-based Royal Coach lines, did not comment on the incident, but a school district spokesperson told News 12 they sent in reinforcements like spare tires to get everything rolling in time for Tuesday.
