yesterdayIt has been 41 years since a horrific domestic terrorist attack claimed the lives of three men in Rockland County, and as tradition, the community came together to never forget them.
Several hundred people turned out at the memorial commemorating the site of the 1981 shooting in Nyack.
That's where a group of far-left radicals robbed a Brink's truck of $1.6 million at the Nanuet Mall, killing guard Peter Paige.
The robbers then fled the scene and ambushed police at a roadblock near the entrance to the Thruway. Gunmen then jumped out of the rear of a U-Haul and shot and killed Nyack Sgt. Edward O'Grady and Officer Waverly "Chipper" Brown.
Family members of the victims said that while time has passed, the wounds have not healed.
Officials announced that Nyack plans to rename part of Lydecker Street near the Village Hall in honor of all three men by the end of the year.
