Mom-and-pop shops in the Bronx are receiving some well-deserved attention today as part of Small Business Saturday.
Residents say the local, independently owned stores are where they often get the best bang for their buck.
They say the smaller shops, such as those at Westchester Square, don't just sell affordable items, but treat their customers like family.
Some stores are offering special deals for the day's event, while others say they're happy to be getting the extra traffic.
Small Business Saturday has been giving love to local stores since it was created by American Express in 2010.
