Some moviegoers are outraged after they say teens snuck into an evening movie dressed up as the main character of a new scary movie.
The teens were reported to have snuck into a 7 p.m. showing of "Mission Impossible" Friday at the Showtime Cinemas in Newburgh.
One young male was said to be dressed as 'Slender Man,' a supernatural character who takes over peoples' minds. The costume consists of a dark black suit and a white mask that covers the entire face.
Two women who didn’t want to be named told News 12 they were terrified and rushed out of the theater. They said one person called 911.
The women say they think management was part of the prank because they were apparently giggling.
However, footage seems to show management telling upset customers that they told the boys to wait outside.
News 12 cannot confirm if management was aware that the juvenile was dressed in costume. National Amusements policy states it does not permit masks, face paint, weapons or any item that may make guests feel uncomfortable or detract from others enjoying their movie going experience.
News 12 reached out to the police department for the Town of Newburgh to see how they are typically trained to handle a situation like this and is still awaiting a response.
