Family and friends gathered at the United Methodist Church in Peekskill Monday to mourn the loss of a grandmother allegedly slain by her husband.
Police say 62-year-old Junco Camper Salters, of Highland Falls, was fatally stabbed multiple times in the chest by her husband, Leonard Salters, at their apartment on June 20. Leonard Salters was later found injured in New Jersey after allegedly crashing his car.
People who attended the funeral wore white, the color of the usher uniform she wore at her church. Salters was buried in the uniform, at her request.
Police say Leonard Salters will be charged with second-degree murder when he is brought back to Highland Falls.
