Firefighters had to battle the extreme heat as they were fighting an apartment fire in Yonkers Tuesday.
Firefighters say the fire started on the third floor of an apartment on Groshen Avenue around 8:30 a.m. The fire quickly spread to an adjoining building sending tenants from both buildings out into the street. The roof is completely destroyed on one building and many apartments have smoke and water damage.
Six families are displaced by the fire but say they are grateful no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
