Students in Rockland County got to experience how dangerous it is to text and drive - with the help of a simulator.
The Rockland County Traffic Safety Board unveiled the newly purchased simulator Wednesday at Ramapo High School for students and county legislators to use.
The goal of the event was to teach teens just how easy it can be to get into accidents while texting and driving.
This simulator works by sending texts to your phone while you're driving and simulates response delays - and even accidents  - so that teens learn about safer driving in a controlled environment.
Traffic safety officials say that drivers are six times more likely to get into a crash while texting and driving than while drinking and driving.
