Silver lining: Rockland woman wins medal in Special Olympic USA games

A Rockland resident has found her place on the podium while competing in the Special Olympics.
Katy Sanchez is currently in Orlando, Florida competing in the Special Olympic USA games as part of Team New York.
The 34-year-old from Nanuet has already won a silver medal in the 1,500-meter run, with the 800 meter and shot put events still to go.
She tells News 12 this is her third time performing at the national level.
"It's been an amazing experience," says Sanchez. "I have a good running coach in Rockland County, a good coach. My mom is supportive of me."
She says she won three gold medals back in the 2019 summer games.
