Westchester County saw its first significant snowfall of the season, and from Yonkers to Yorktown Heights, residents were up early digging out and getting on with their day.
In downtown Yonkers, bus driver Raj Singhnani focused on safety as slick roads made the morning commute challenging. He slowed his pace, making sure passengers could get on and off the bus without slipping.

Nearby on the Hastings–Yonkers border, Nelson Duran swapped his shovel for work boots, clearing just enough snow to get to his construction job.
Farther north in Pleasantville, the snow didn’t stop business at Lulu’s Kitchenette. Owner Lauren Ellentuck arrived after a tough 45-minute commute, pouring hot chocolate for customers despite partially cleared highways.
In Yorktown Heights, neighbors tackled snow in different ways. Simona Dimian shoveled a long, steep driveway by hand, enjoying the “instant gratification” of the work, while Marty Costello relied on his 40-year-old tractor to clear the way.
Across Westchester, the message was the same: dig out, stay safe, and keep moving.
