Construction on a major retail and entertainment complex in Dobbs Ferry is moving at a steady pace.
An official ground-breaking ceremony took place Tuesday for the Rivertowns Square.
Saber Dobbs Ferry Associates LLC is constructing the retail and residential complex along the Saw Mill River Parkway off Exit 16.
"We're excited. We've been working on it for a very long time. We permitted for four years and finally it's underway," says developer Martin Berger.
The $130 million project will feature restaurants like Chipotle and Buddha Asian Bistro, as well as a Hilton Garden hotel, a movie theater and luxury apartments.
Dobbs Ferry Mayor Hartley Connett says the traffic problems that some envisioned haven't materialized.
"Increased traffic along the Saw Mill River Parkway is one reason why some people were opposed to the project. The developer says that is under control," says Mayor Connett.
Rivertowns Square is scheduled to open in mid-2016, and is expected to bring hundreds of jobs and tax dollars into Dobbs Ferry.
