Shoppers across the Hudson Valley raced against the clock to finish their Christmas shopping.
According to the National Retail Federation, about 40 percent of Christmas shopping is done just 10 days before the holiday.
Many shoppers who spoke with News 12 say they just have procrastinated. Others say Christmas Eve is the best day to buy.
"Why wait until the last minute? Sales, sales, sales," says Courtney Nita.
Officials at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers say shoppers can save hundreds of dollars by waiting until the last minute to shop.
The National Retail Federation says consumers are expected to spend nearly $630 billion on holiday gifts this year. However, industry insiders say sales fell 6.7 percent last weekend compared to 2014.
Retailers will be on the lookout for return fraud, which is expected to cost business $2.2 billion.
