A shooting incident near the Surry Carlton Apartments on Ewing Avenue in Spring Valley on Tuesday left one person in serious condition.

Gunshots were fired in the area shortly before 11 p.m., with at least two bullets striking the side of one of the buildings. The bullets also passed through one of the apartments, but no one inside was injured.

Investigative sources indicate that the man was doing his laundry across Ewing Avenue at a laundromat when a bullet pierced through a window, striking him in the arm. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he is currently recovering.

The laundromat remained closed following the incident, with a sign left on a car in the parking lot, requesting it not be towed as the victim was in the hospital.

Police worked into the overnight hours, scouring for evidence and questioning residents in the neighborhood about any possible sightings or sounds related to the shooting.

No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
