Local parishioners received letters Friday detailing a sexual abuse investigation into their monsignor.
Monsignor John O'Keefe has led the parish at the Church of St. Margaret of Antioch, but has been on medical leave for a couple of months. He is under investigation by district attorneys in two different states over allegations of abusing a minor.
The abuse allegedly happened during the early 80s outside of Rockland. One of the disturbances allegedly happened in the Bronx, where the alleged victim lived. That same person allegedly claims it happened again during a trip.
"The allegation is that the victim went with the priest to Virginia, and while there an act of abuse occurred," NYS Archdiocese spokesperson Joseph Zwilling says.
Letters explaining the allegations about the monsignor are currently in the process of being distributed.
The church is now carrying out its own investigation. O'Keefe has denied the allegations.
