Several Westchester beaches that were closed Wednesday are now back open. 

They were closed because tests showed bacterial contamination in the water.

New water samples were clear, so most Sound Shore beaches were able to reopen. 

Surf Club in New Rochelle and Playland Beach in Rye will stay closed for now.

Beaches have been closed several times this summer because extensive rain can lead to discharge from stormwater drains and bacteria in the water.
