There are new details in the gruesome killing and dismemberment of a Yonkers couple. Several people involved in the case were sentenced Tuesday on Long Island.

In 2024, human remains were found scattered on Long Island.

Those remains were identified as Malcolm Brown and Donna Conneely. Both lived in Yonkers several years ago.

Officials say they were killed by people they were living with at the time in Amityville, New York, Jeffrey Mackey and Alexis Nieves.

Officials previously said Mackey stabbed Brown multiple times. When Conneely attempted to intervene, he stabbed her multiple times, according to prosecutors.

Then, Nieves was accused of using a meat tenderizer while attacking Conneely.

Mackey was sentenced to 22 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision. Nieves was sentenced to 11 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Two others also pleaded guilty in helping dispose of the victims, including Steven Brown. He's Malcolm Brown's cousin and will spend the next five years in prison, also followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Malcolm Brown's siblings spoke after court.

“For our cousin, Steven Brown, getting five years, that's a slap on the wrist. I mean Jesus, your cousin doesn’t have to be involved in chopping up and disposing of your body parts," says Coreen Bullock.

Defense attorneys also spoke after court. This is what they said when it comes to a possible motive.

“Jeff Mackey and his wife were physically, emotionally and financially abused by the victims. It was that law, the New York Penal Law, Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act that paved the way to this very unique plea," says Mackey's attorney, Anthony La Pinta.

Mackey said in court he wished none of this ever happened. He also apologized to the family members.
