Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing for new legislation to crack down on the flow of illegal guns.
The state's junior senator hosted a roundtable discussion at the New Rochelle Public Library in light of recent shootings nationwide.
Gillibrand's bill is named after two innocent lives lost at the hand of gun violence. The bill would make gun trafficking a federal crime and enact harsher penalties for those breaking the law.
The bill was first introduced in 2013, but failed to pass by two votes. It is unclear as to when the new bill will be put to a vote.
