State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins distributed masks to civilians today.

News 12 is told the local leader handed out reusable face coverings to local businesses and other organizations in an effort to keep everyone safe.

"Facial coverings make a huge difference…if you need a mask, we want you to have one,” said Stewart-Cousins.

The legislator also mentioned that 137 local groups and nonprofits have assisted by picking up the masks from her office.
