Sen. Charles Schumer is calling for Metro-North to work faster to install technology that could prevent train crashes.
Schumer says the MTA wants a two-year extension to install positive train control (PTC), which could stop an out-of-control train from crashing.
The project was supposed to be installed by the end of this month.
Schumer is calling for the railroad to meet that deadline. In a tweet, he called the reported two-year extension request “unacceptable” and added, “Safety is the priority.”
