With close to 4,000 cases of people getting the flu in Westchester, schools are working to make sure that the germs don't spread.
The New York state Department of Health says Westchester County has seen more than 3,800 cases of the flu and four children’s deaths in the state have been flu-related.
As cases continue to rise, schools are taking precautions to prevent the spread of the germs to children.

At George Washington Elementary School in White Plains, custodians spend the day wiping down water fountains, door knobs and railings.  After hours, the school uses a high-powered machine once a week to sanitize the area. The machine is the same kind of machine used to disinfect cruise ships.

"You could spray it on paper, spray it on charts, spray it on the smartboard, everything is able to be sanitized pretty quickly," says principal Laura Mungin.
