Many people are paying tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a day of service.
Students and other volunteers from P.S. 55 in Morrisania say that Martin Luther King Jr. Day is much more than a day off from school or work. For them, it's about giving back.
With the help of local nonprofit City Year, volunteers spent the holiday beautifying the public school with several projects, including a painted mural.
City Year partners with public schools across New York to help keep students in school through various programs. Its Martin Luther King Jr. event was just one of the many it plans throughout the year.
