It was a packed room Monday night at Scarsdale High School as the board discussed the recent antisemetic incident and how they plan to move forward.

Back in April, flyers promoting a student-led Israeli Culture Club event were torn down and thrown away at Scarsdale High School. Some were found inside a urinal.

Parents were told former school board president James Dugan's daughter shared a picture of that on Instagram with the caption, "keep up the good work."

At the end of April, Dugan stepped aside, but remains a board member.

Monday night was the first meeting since he stepped down from his role.

Many students took an opportunity to speak, saying the recent antisemetic event left them feeling hurt and wanting change.

One person said Dugan shouldn't have stepped down from his role.

"Mr. Dugan himself has done no violation and neglect of duty to my knowledge. It's a prime example of guilt by association," said a concerned community member.

The board did address guidelines on student speech and dress. A draft can be found here.

According to the board, members of the community are invited to share feedback. It will be discussed again at the June 8 board meeting.

Once adopted, these guidelines will be adopted into each school's student handbook.
