Several Manor Avenue residents say they?re the victims of unwarranted punishment by the Department of Sanitation.
The Department of Sanitation claims that the three neighbors on Manor Avenue did not observe signs posted in the area to inform tenants of proper recycling procedures. The department says they also failed to present a recycling notice.
The residents dispute the charges and say the summons are bogus.
?It?s an insult,? said resident Camille Hutson. ?We are people on a small block that actually care.?
The Department of Sanitation says that if their office notices a violation, then a summons will be issued. Neighbors that feel like they have been served a bogus summons are invited to write in a statement or contact the Environmental Controls Department.
